Germany Blitz past Nigeria in FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of three-time champions, Germany in their second group game of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, in Bogota.

Following their victory over Korea Republic in the first group game, Nigeria needed a result in Wednesday’s game to secure passage to thr next round.

Early German Lead

Germany took the lead in the 20th minute through Şehitler, who headed the ball into the net after a cross, punishing Chris Danjuma’s side for a missed opportunities on the break.

 

The first half ended with the score at 1-0 ;  and the Falconets struggled to make an impact in the final third.

 

 

 

 

Falconets Fight Back

In the 58th minute, Nigeria leveled the score through Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, giving the team hope of turning the game around.

Germany Responds Quickly

Just three minutes later, Sofie Zdebel restored Germany’s lead, tapping in from a low cross to make it 2-1.

 

 

 

Late German Goal

Germany sealed the win in stoppage time, as Sarah Ernst scored to extend their lead to 3-1, leaving the Falconets without a chance to come back.
