Manchester City have completed a £27million deal for Real Madrid’s Danilo, with the Brazil right-back claiming it has always been his ambition to work under manager Pep Guardiola.
The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium and will now join his new new team-mates on the club’s pre-season tour of America.
The deal for Danilo, who can play on the left as well as competing with new £54million signing Kyle Walker on the right, is expected to be followed by the arrival of Benjamin Mendy after Monaco accepted a £52million bid.
Danilo told the club’s official website: ‘I am very, very happy to be joining Manchester City.
‘There has been strong interest from other Clubs, but it has always been my ambition to play for Pep Guardiola. As soon as I heard of his interest, I knew immediately I wanted to be a City player.
‘I can’t wait to get started and I’m looking forward to getting to know my new teammates over the coming weeks.’
‘It’s a big day and a pleasure to be part of this team. I hope to meet the expectations, I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I would love to win the Champions League with Manchester City.’
