Sacked Imama Demanding Severance Pay from Rangers

Sacked Enugu Rangers Coach, Imama Amapakabo has told brila.net that his lawyers will enter into negotiations with the club over his severance pay.

The 2015/16 NPFL title winning Coach was shown the exit on Monday; via e-mail, following a string of poor results which has seen the Flying Antelopes languishing at the bottom of the league table and on the cusp of failing to reach the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

In what was seemingly the last straw, Rangers were held 2-2 at home by Zesco United in the first leg of their play-off game against the Zambia club in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Imama was given a renewed two-year contract after last season’s feat but was sacked six months into his new deal and he disclosed that the club had hinged their decision on a section of his contract that quoted non-performance.

Rangers won the NPFL title last season after a 32-year wait but did not reinforce the guard ahead of the new season with several fronts to play on.

Amapakabo insists the club’s Management failed to hold up their part of the contract that required the provision of support in critical areas.

In a swift reaction to the sack, the Club’s Management named former Head Coach, Chukwuma Agbo as the interim Chief Coach.
