The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has unveiled a historic ₦24.5 million prize pot for the 2025 Super Six playoffs—upgrading the stakes for all six finalists.
Champions: ₦10 million (unchanged)
Runners-up: ₦6 million (↑₦1 million)
Third place: ₦4 million (↑₦1 million)
Bottom three: ₦1.5 million each (↑₦1 million)
“This is a deliberate step to ensure that all clubs leave the NWFL Premiership Super Six with something tangible,” said NWFL Chairperson Nkechi Obi.
“By increasing the financial rewards, especially for the bottom three, we’re reinforcing our commitment to professionalising the women’s game and encouraging more investment at club level.”
Prize & Prestige
Beyond the cash prizes, the champions earn Nigeria’s sole ticket to the WAFU qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The competition is also a pathway to next year’s inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Championship, should they reach that final.
Four Clubs in Title Contention as Finale Looms
With just one matchday left on Saturday, May 17, four teams can still lift the trophy.
All three decisive fixtures kick off at 3 pm simultaneously at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Team Points Goal Diff. Remaining Fixture
Nasarawa Amazons 8 +5 vs. Edo Queens ↑
Edo Queens (holders) 7 +3 vs. Nasarawa Amazons ↓
Bayelsa Queens 7 +2 vs. Naija Ratels ↑
Remo Stars Ladies 6 +1 vs. Rivers Angels ↑
Rivers Angels 5 0 vs. Remo Stars Ladies ↓
Naija Ratels 0 –11 vs. Bayelsa Queens ↓
Nasarawa Amazons top the table on eight points. A win seals the title outright.
Edo Queens—one point shy—must beat the Amazons and hope Bayelsa slip up.
Bayelsa Queens rebound from their first defeat in 17 games faces Naija Ratels; a big win plus dropped points by leaders could see them crowned.
Remo Stars Ladies can complete a dramatic surge by defeating Rivers Angels, then banking on other results.
“It’s important to protect the integrity of the competition. With four teams still in contention, simultaneous kick-off ensures fairness and keeps the excitement alive,” explained NWFL COO Modupe Shabi on why all games are played simultaneously.
“This is a historic moment for the league, and we want the best team to emerge champion under the most transparent conditions,” she concluded.
